4/17/2025 - Ignite Sign Art Museum


 On 4/17/2025, some friends and I went to a neon sign museum.  The place is called Ignite Sign Art Museum located in Tucson, AZ.  The museum opened in fall of 2018.  I never heard of this place until some other friends told us about it.  It was cool seeing all the signs that you saw in Tucson in earlier years.  It was a fun day to see history.

It's one floor building and an outside area to look at the signs.  They also offer classes to learn to make a sign.

There were a lot of restaurant signs, hotel/motel signs and shops.  Here is a few that I liked.


This was one of the old Arby's signs that was located at Wetmore and Oracle.  When I saw it, I didn't realize how tall it was.  It was on a pole up high.


One of the old Valley National Bank signs before it became Chase.  My stepdad used to work at this bank.


This cowboy riding a horse sign was part of El Corral restaurant sign.  This is one of my favorite places to eat.  Best ribs and prime ribs.


This El Con sign was a mall that was closed a few years ago.


A sign of Furr's restaurant.  One of the best buffets meals.  This was one of my grandmother's favorite places to eat in town.


This is Ghost Ranch Lodge sign.  The place was located on Mircle Mile.  The building is still there but the lodge is gone.  My dad used to stay there when he would come and visit me.


This is the interstate that goes through Tucson, I-10.

  This building is the Scottsdale Historical Museum at the Little Red Schoolhouse.  The museum opened in November 1991 and operated by the Scottsdale Historical Society.  This building is located at 7333 East Scottsdale Mall.  It is near Old Town Scottsdale. The Little Red Schoolhouse, originally constructed as the Scottsdale Grammar School in 1909.  It was a tribute to the wisdom and foresight of town founder, Chaplain Winfield Scott. It is still located on its original site in Old Town Scottsdale, the Little Red Schoolhouse was dedicated on Scott's birthday on February 26, 1910.  After serving as a school between 1909 to early 1950's, it served as Scottsdale's first Town Hall (1955-1963), then it was a public library (1963-1968), and then it was the Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center from 1973-1991. 4/10/2025 - First Christian Church a Frank Lloyd Wright Design

  I bet you are wondering why I have this church on my blog.  With my theme of going to see Frank Lloyd Wright buildings.  This was one of his designs.  There were portions of a 1950 design for the Southwest Christian Seminary in this church.  Frank Lloyd Wright was not alive when this place was built in 1971-78.  Taliesin Associated Architects built this church. 4/1977 - Homestead National Monument of America

 When I was a baby my dad and mom took me to the Homestead.  I don't have pictures or anything to talk about.  This was my first park I went too.  To start my National Park journey. My dad did tell me that they had a friend work there during that time in April 1977. One of the first claims under the Homestead Act of 1862 was filed for this land; includes Freeman School.
